Flickering illusions which purport to tell a story.

My IMDB lists

I do have some method to rating and reviewing films, as well as my own specific tastes.

I consider a film to be good if it delivers what it advertises. So in the case of some Oscar bait tear-jerker about rich white people being sad, or minorities battling adversity with quiet strength and dignity. If the acting is good, the cinematography good and the story decent. For example The Constant Gardener that's a six or seven. That's a quality, well made film. But clearly that's about the minimum you would expect from it and barely delivers what was promised. Zombeavers on the other hand? That promises killer beavers, jokes in bad taste, gore and B movie goodness. It delivers those better than The Constant Gardener delivers on the promises it made. So Zombeavers is also a 7, and I consider it to be good.

Movies that I love, and that are generally considered to be wonderful by others who have seen them.

There isn't too much to say about these. I enjoy bitching about things, I'm talented, possibly gifted at the arts of complaining, berating, mocking, bullying, assaulting, terrorizing and demoralizing others.

Therefore I made a list of terrible movies, I made some effort to include the ones which people actually seemed to like and which made money apparently. To me an IMDB rating of a two or three is a statement that this film doesn't click for me, and isn't to my taste. A one means that it's a complete failure and probably doesn't qualify as a movie at all, and that you are a bad person for liking it.

Basically films which I expected would belong on the Movies which suck list, but turned out to be enjoyable somehow.
